Egyptian business tycoon Naguib Sawiris said Tuesday that its Gemini Global Development plans investing in some real estate flagships in the country’s new cities. Gemini Global Development undertakes high-end real estate developments in various prime locations around the world and owns many projects in Egypt, UK, Greece, Cyprus, the United States, and a bunch of other countries. Sawiris made these remarks during meeting with Egyptian Minister of Housing Moustafa Madbouly, where they discussed real estate investment opportunities in some new cities in the country. “The company’s strategy focuses on developing fully-fledged urban communities,” Sawiris noted. Gemini Global Development cooperates with a number of the biggest global consulting offices and major construction firms to carry out its projects according to the latest international standards, Sawiris stated. Moustafa Madbouly said the county’s New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) will offer soon more land plots for giant real estate investments. Egypt will launch soon a bunch of new land plots in the cities of New El Alamein, northwest of Cairo, and New Mansoura, 128km north of Cairo in the Nile Delta, Housing Minister Moustafa Madbouly said Monday. The public-private (PPP) land plots are set to be launched for the first time to execute projects in partnership with the state’s private sector and investors, Madbouly further stated. We (the country) seek to launch new land plots to be sold for investors in a number of new cities,” the Egyptian minister added. In August 2017, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi issued a decree establishing a new city in Mansoura. The decree approved the re-allocation of 5,104 feddans or 21.4 million square metres of the state-owned lands to the New Urban Communities Authority to be used in establishing a new urban community, the New Mansoura City. Egypt’s state-run construction firm Hassan Allam is carrying out a bridge project on the Nile in Qena governorate, at a cost exceeding 100 million Egyptian pounds ($5.6 million), said an official source on Sunday. Speaking to Amwal Al Ghad, the source further added that this comes as part of the country’s national road flagships. “The company is currently competing to implement a bundle of infrastructure projects in the local market among its scheme to increase the business volume,” he said. During the last few months, the source referred that Hassan Allam was tasked with executing a number of new infrastructure works in Cairo and a bunch of other governorates, at costs approaching 850 million pounds. “The company is carrying out residential buildings at the first phase of the new administrative capital,” the source stated, clarifying that the state’s Holding Company for Construction and Development (HCCD) has mandated these works to Hassan Allam. “It is planned to start delivering these mandates in the new capital at the end of June 2018,” he noted. Located some 40km to the east of Cairo, the under-construction new capital city is part of the government’s plan to expand urban areas to deal with the country's rapid population growth and improve the nation's infrastructure. The city will be a 270-square-mile hub with 21 residential districts to accommodate five million people. It will feature 1,250 mosques and churches, a 5,000-seat conference centre, nearly 2,000 schools and colleges, over 600 medical facilities and a park that is projected to be the world’s largest. Egypt’s Royal Gate for Housing Development says it plans attain a land plot to start executing its first fully-fledged residential compound project in the country’s new administrative capital, 40km to the east of Cairo, within 2018. The company also seeks to invest 150 million Egyptian pounds ($8.4 million) in a number of new standalone real estate flagships in El Shorouk and New Cairo cities within this year, said its managing director Mohamed Omar on Sunday. “We (Royal Gate) targets carrying out a bunch of administrative and medical flagships in Badr and El Shorouk cities,” Omar further added. Egypt’s Elite Real Estate Consultancy Company says it has launched its medical and commercial project The Core in New Cairo by early February 2018, with target sales of around 130 million Egyptian pounds ($7.3 million). The company has marketed about five percent of the project, said its managing director Ali Gaber on Sunday, adding that it is established over 1,700 square metres, on a lease space of 4,000 square metres. “We are currently executing the finishing works,” Gaber told Amwal Al Ghad. Moreover, the Egyptian official referred that Elite seeks to carry out a new residential and commercial flagship in the county’s new administrative capital, 40km to the east of Cairo, over 14 faddans, with initial investments totalling one billion pounds. “It (the new capital’s flagship) is planned to be promoted in three phases within the second quarter of this year,” Gaber said. Egypt’s state-run El Nasr Company for Building and Construction (EGYCO) says it has completed a number of infrastructure works worth 700 million Egyptian pounds ($39.6 million) during the first half of financial year 2017/2018. EGYCO signed new contracts estimated at 1.1 billion pounds during the last period, said its managing director for financial and administrative affairs Osama El Husseiny on Sunday. “The company plans to increase its business volume in the local market and compete to execute infrastructure projects, which are being launched,” El Husseiny further stated. One of Egypt’s major construction firms is negotiating with the country’s New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) to execute four flagships in New Alamein City, northwest of Cairo, an official source in the firm said Thursday. The four residential and infrastructure projects are with total investments estimated at six billion Egyptian pounds ($338.6 million), the source further told Amwal Al Ghad. “The company was tasked with carrying out a 44-storey giant tower in New Alamein City during last year,” he stated, referring that his company is currently preparing to start the concrete construction works. “The company was also charged with implementing a commercial part at the trade zone in New Alamein City,” the source said, adding that the mandates come as part of the Housing Ministry’s scheme to develop the city and choose a number of construction firms to execute the residential towers and trade zone there. Egypt’s Housing Ministry has approved to allocate 2.9 billion Egyptian pounds ($163.8 million) for executing a number of infrastructure works in Obour City within the financial year 2017/2018, Minister Moustafa Madbouly said Thursday. Obour City is located in Qalyubia Governorate, around 35km (21.7 miles) northeast of Cairo (21.7 miles). The city, which was designated as an industrial zone and houses of a number of factories, has approximately 250,000 citizens. The country is currently carrying out a major road network in Obour City, with investments of one billion Egyptian pounds ($56.5 million), Madbouly further stated, adding that the network’s space reaches around 65km. Egypt is completing 2,832 units, including 118 buildings in 10th of Ramadan, one of the largest industrial cities in Cairo, as part of the first phase of the state middle-income residential flagship Dar Misr. Established in 1977 by presidential decree No. 249, 10th of Ramadan is located on Cairo-Ismailia desert highway road, 46km (29 miles) from Cairo and 20km (12 miles) from Belbeis City in Sharqia Governorate. The country has carried out 95 percent of the works in the city, said 10th of Ramadan City Development Authority’s head Adel Al Naggar on Thursday. “The accomplishment rates of implementing 1,800 units, including 75 buildings reached around 60 percent within the second phase of the project (Dar Misr) in the city,” Al Naggar further added. The state is currently executing 4,608 units among Dar Misr’s third phase, under the auspices of 10th of Ramadan City Development Authority, the official stated, referring that the homes will be launched for reservation soon.
