Egypt starts exporting its first ever smartphone to UAE

Egyptian Silicon Industries Co. (E-SICO) has exported the first shipment of the first ever locally manufactured smartphone  to  the United Arab of Emirates.

The first shipment is of 1,000 smartphones  from the company’s plant in the technology park in Assuit.

SICO mobile phones represent the first local brand in the industry as the percentage of local component is 45 percent, noting that it would be manufactured by the company’s factory  located on an area of 4500 metre square in New Assiut Park, with 400 million Egyptian pounds in investments.

Chairman of the Egyptian Silicon Industries Co. (E-SICO) Mohamed Salem said that the new smartphone is not only for local production but also will be distributed regionally in the African and Middle Eastern markets, with a regional guarantee.

He added the company has achieved sales of 200,000 devices in the Egyptian market in last February.

SICO company is targeting sales volume in the Egyptian market of approximately 1.5 million units during the first year, pointing out that his company is currently producing through its new plant 50,000 sets per month.

SICO Technology is planning to acquire 5 percent of Egypt’s mobile phones market share in the first year of selling.

SICO has officially launched its products in the Egyptian market since last February, where it has introduced eight models of the first locally manufactured  smartphone e in the market.
