Egyptian SICO in talks with foreign companies to locally produce electronics

Egyptian SICO is negotiating with foreign companies to enter into joint-manufacturing agreements to locally produce electronics, ICT Minister Amr Talaat told Amwal Al Ghad.

The Minister did not give specific names of companies and did not provide further details about the plan.

He further noted that cooperating with foreign firms allows Egyptian entities to benefit from global expertise in the field of electronics, pointing out that SICO has achieved a good level of success so far and partnership with global entities would support its position in the local market.

Sico has lately signed an agreement with the Chinese Megaun group to locally manufacture tablets and mobile phones.

The company seeks to pump investments of 200 million Egyptian pounds in its plants within Assyut technological park by the end of 2018.
