Egyptian stock market ends up with $276mn gains

Egyptian stock market finished Tuesday with gains estimated at 2.16 billion Egyptian pounds (US$275.8 million) on Egyptian and foreign buying appetite.

The market capitalisation has reached 429.981 billion Egyptian pounds during the closing session of Tuesday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 rose by 0.56 percent to 7021.42 points.

The EGX50 EWI index went up by 0.92 percent to 1199.36 points.

EGX20 increased by 0.52 percent to 7001.87 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 jumped by 1.75 percent to 383.08 points. The price index, EGX100 boosted by 0.94 percent to 790.58 points.

Turnovers up

On Tuesday, the bourse’s trading volume has hit 170.852 million securities, with turnovers closed at 612.452 million pounds, exchanged through 21,911 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 165 listed securities have been traded in; 38 declined, 87 advanced; while 39 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Egyptian and foreign investors were net buyers on Tuesday capturing 75.05% and 15.96% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 3.343 million pounds and 29.915 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, the Arab investors were net sellers getting 8.98% of the total market, with a net equity of 33.259 million pounds, excluding the deals.
