Egypt’s FM, Al-Azhar condemn terrorist attacks in Turkey

The Egyptian foreign ministry and Al-Azhar, the top Sunni Muslim authority, denounced terrorist attacks in Turkey on Thursday that killed at least six people in total and injured over 200.

Two car bombs — less than 12 hours apart — hit the eastern Turkish city of Elazig targeting a police headquarters. Officials have blamed the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

“The Egyptian people stand in solidarity with the Turkish people in the face of these terrorist attacks that do not differentiate between religion or race,” the ministry said in a statement late on Thursday.

Meanwhile, in a statement reported by state official news agency MENA,  Al-Azhar stressed his rejection of all forms of terrorisms in any place.

The top Islamic body called on the international community to take urgent action to counter terrorism.
