Egypt’s foreign ministry launches new website among communications strategy

Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a new website as part of its efforts to “develop channels of communication” both within Egypt and with other nations.

The website, which took several months to build, provides content on Egypt’s foreign policy and its relations with countries around the world, as well as Cairo’s position on major regional and international issues.

“The website is a continuation of a comprehensive strategy pursued by Egyptian diplomats to develop communication tools locally and internationally, in order to keep up with the unprecedented technological developments of the current era,” Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said in a welcome note published on the website on Tuesday

The new portal includes a media centre providing statements and updates from the ministry, press conferences by ministry officials and the minister’s daily schedule, along with interviews with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.

There is also a section gathering the ministry’s posts on micro-blogging site Twitter. Consular services, including visa applications, can also be accessed through the new website.

The portal’s content includes information on Egypt’s history, tourism and economy, as well as links to the most important governmental bodies and institutions, especially those concerned with tourism promotion and the issuance of visas.

The website is available in two languages: Arabic and English. Source: Ahram online
