Egypt’s Sisi to visit Oman Sunday, discuss bilateral relations with Sultan Qaboos

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is heading to Oman in his first official visit to the country on Sunday, where he is set to meet Sultan Qaboos Bin Said to discuss bilateral and regional issues, the presidency’s spokesperson Bassam Rady said in a statement on Friday.

Sisi is also set to meet with a number of top Omani officials to tackle ways of consolidating bilateral cooperation in several fields.

The discussions will also address the latest Arab, regional, and international developments of mutual interest.

This visit comes out of Sisi’s keenness to boost historical and brotherly relations between the Omani and Egyptian peoples, and to intensify joint consultation and coordination in several bilateral and regional issues to serve the interests of the two countries, Rady said.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with Qaboos in Muscat last November as part of a regional diplomatic tour that aimed at intensifying consultations and coordination between “Egypt and its brothers in the region,” especially in light of political developments in Lebanon at the time.
