Europe Stocks Higher Backed By Miners, Drug Makers

European stocks markets opened mostly higher on Monday, with miners and drug makers posting some of the biggest gains. The Stoxx 600 Europe (XX:SXXP) +0.35% gained 0.4% to 264.44, lifted by Roche Holding AG (CH:ROG) +1.02% up 1.2% and Novartis AG (CH:NOVN) +0.78% 0.8% higher.

The German DAX 30 index (DX:DAX) +0.98% took on 0.7% to 6,997.08, as BMW AG (DE:BMW) +3.30% rose 2.1%. E.ON AG (DE:EOAN) +0.39% gained 1.2% after a broker upgrade.

The French CAC 40 index (FR:PX1) +0.39% advanced 0.6% to 3,443.16, lifted by Total SA (FR:FP) +2.23% as it prepares to return to its North Sea platform after a gas leak.

The FTSE 100 index (UK:UKX) +0.39%was 0.5% higher at 5,797.79. Miners supported the index and Kazakhmys PLC (UK:KAZ) +1.71% rose 2.2% and Rio Tinto PLC (UK:RIO) +2.16% RIO +2.11 added 2%. These data have been compiled by Market Watch.
