Emirates’ Middle East operations will receive a boost this August as the airline increases its daily capacity to both Kuwait and Doha, adding a total capacity increase of almost 29 percent across the two routes. In line with Emirates’ rapid global expansion Qatar and Kuwait will each benefit from an additional daily frequency, bringing operations to Doha to six services per day and Kuwait up to five flights per day. With six flights per day, Doha has the highest number of daily frequencies in the Middle East region, followed by Kuwait. Both cities play a key role in the region’s business growth, attracting international investors and facilitating global trade. With a total of 46,430 seats available for inbound and outbound booking each week, across the two markets, these additional daily flights are well timed to support the countries accelerated trade and tourism growth. The 2012 Global Financial Markets Forum (GFMF), which begins this Wednesday, will offer investor presentation sessions from several UAE top companies. GFMF, organized by the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), is the region's only facilitator of investor presentations, which create greater transparency and allow the region's companies tell their story and strategies to a wide international audience. French group Accor, Europe's largest hotelier, plans to open nine hotels in the Middle East this year as part of a rapid expansion in the region. After opening only one hotel in the Middle East in 2011, Accor plans to open a total of 23 hotels within the next three years in the region as occupancies rise in the group's key markets. Christophe Landais, Managing Director of Accor ME, said occupancies in Saudi Arabia and the UAE rose 18% and 17%, respectively, in 2011 as hotels in these countries achieved 'tremendous' performance in Q4.Currently, the group's regional portfolio comprises 56 hotels representing 12,357 rooms in ten countries. Organizations in the Middle East are increasingly looking to improve their disaster recovery capabilities, according to the 'Second Middle East Business Continuity Survey'.Nearly 25% of the respondents plan to use an external data centre service provider for production/DR site, while 57% aim to implement a DR solution between the production site and DR site. Meanwhile, over 39% of the survey participants said that their need for DR seats is likely to emerge within the next two years. The key outcomes were unveiled by eHosting DataFort (eHDF), the region's leading managed IT services provider and a member of TECOM investments, which initiated the study in conjunction with UAE-based BCM consultancy 'Continuity and Resilience'.
