Zamalek's new coach Augusto Inacio was dealt the worst possible start in his debut with the Cairo giants after losing 2-0 to rivals Enppi in the Egyptian Premier League on Monday. The two goals by striking duo Mahmoud Kaoud and Mohamed Hamdi Zaki on minutes 31 and 69 gave Enppi three precious points; adding more woes for Zamalek, who were dealt their fourth successive league loss. Replacing coach Mohamed Helmi, who resigned after a series of unconvincing performances, the Portuguese coach Inacio hoped for a better start, but the stiff petroleum side prevented him from leading the Cairo giants back to winning ways. The loss left Zamalek fourth in the Egyptian Premier League table with 40 points, a massive 18 behind leaders Ahly, who have played one match more. Enppi moved forward to 11th place with 28 points. During a phone-in on Mehwar Satellite Channel, Mansour talked about several issues, including offers that he alleges to have reached the club for first-team players. A defensively-organised Ahly side held on to come up with a goalless draw against South Africa's Bidvest Wits away from home to qualify for the CAF Champions League group stage with an aggregate 1-0 victory. Going into the round of 32 return leg at BidVest Stadium in Johannesburg with an uncomfortable 1-0 lead from home, Hossam El-Badry's men managed to keep their opponents at bay for the majority of the game. The Egyptians had to endure some nervy moments at the end of each half, but were unlucky to see a one-on-one Amr Gamal denied by the woodwork just three minutes from time. More»

Egypt’s High Administrative Court has ordered that the Football Association's board be dissolved, ruling on Sunday that the results of the 2016 elections for the board were invalid. The lawsuit against the election results was launched by two candidates, Omar Haridy and Magda El-Helbawy. The duo, who failed to secure board seats in the elections, demanded that the results to be suspended, claiming that the nomination of current board members Hazem El-Hawary and Sahar El-Hawary, who are brother and sister, was illegal. Retired Egyptian football star Mohamed Abou-Treika will not be returning to Egypt from Doha to attend his father’s wake on Monday after he was added to the Egypt’s terror list, a close friend of the player told Ahram Online. The source said that Aboutrika fears he will be placed under a travel ban if he returns to Egypt. Under the country’s anti-terrorism law, any person placed on a terror list is subject to a travel ban and faces having their passports and assets frozen. “The situation is very difficult and sad. Abou-Treika's lawyer advised him not to attend the wake, because he could be stopped at the airport and his passport could be seized, as has been the case with other people on the list,” the source said. Egypt keeper Essam El-Hadary will be facing a stern test against Egyptian League leaders Ahly as he will be tasked with keeping a seventh straight clean sheet for Wadi Degla at Petrosport Stadium on Thursday. Following a superb Cup of Nations campaign with Egypt, who eventually lost the title after a 2-1 defeat to Cameroon in the final, 44-year-old El-Hadary will be hopeful of retaining his position in the Pharaohs' goal. After being preferred by Egypt manager Hector Cuper to stand between the sticks in the two opening World Cup qualifying wins over Congo and Ghana, El-Hadary seemed to have fallen down the pecking order in the Nations' Cup.
