Paper products exports hike 25%, hit $214mn in six months- Egypt’s Council

Egyptian paper products sector witnessed a leap during the first half of 2016 as its exports grew by 25 percent.

The total exports of paper products recorded around 1.9 billion Egyptian pounds (US$213.9 million) in January-June 2016 versus 1.5 billion pounds at the same period of 2015.

The latest report released by Egyptian Chemical Export Council (CEC) stated that paper products sector captured 15 percent of the total exports of chemical industries sector by the end of June 2016.

In June 2016, paper products exports rose by 27 percent to 302.3 million pounds opposed to 238.9 million pounds a year earlier, getting 13.5 percent of total chemicals exports.

During the first quarter of 2016, paper products exports jumped to 881.2 million pounds from 763.3 million pounds a year earlier, registering 15 percent increase.

Additionally, exports of paper products climbed during the second quarter of 2016 to one billion pounds opposed to 739.9 million pounds during the second quarter of  2015, making a 35.25 percent increase.
