Egypt unveils discovery of pharaonic tomb in Luxor

Egypt’s Antiquities Minister Khaled al-Anani announced on Saturday the discovery of a Pharaonic goldsmith tomb that dates back to 1000 BC.

The tomb, found in the Dra’ Abu el-Naga area of Qurna mountain, belonged to Amenemhat, under the number 390, and includes burial chambers for his wife and their son, descried Anani during a press conference attended by some foreign ambassadors and governor of Luxor Mohamed Badr.

Anani said that the owner of the tomb is Amenemhat, a goldsmith from the middle age of the 18th dynasty.

He added that the mummies in the tomb are in fairly good condition, dated to the tenth and eleventh century BC. Several pottery pieces were found inside the tomb, along with Oshepti statues also in good condition.

Anani said that the tomb’s drawings and inscriptions retained their colors. The mummies were also excellently maintained, along with antiquities and jewelry, and the equipment of the Pharaonic gold merchant in full shape.

A group of mummies from the 20 and 21 dynasties were also found, and a large well 8 meters deep.
