Siemens launches SICEMENT Electrification system to enhance Egypt’s cement sector

German industrial giant Siemens is set to launch SICEMENT Electrification system on August 18 to enhance cement industry in Egypt as well as supporting state’s economy.

The system aims at providing the energy requirements of industrial cement plants and achieve mechanisation in manufacturing operations.

It will be launched during the “Bringing Power to Cement Industry” forum in Cairo.

CEO of Siemens-Egypt Emad Ghali stated that the company is aware of cement industry importance for supporting Egyptian economy, thus, it keens on providing a bunch of advanced solutions for cement producers.

He added that Siemens’ products and services include largest gas and steam turbines in the world in addition to solutions that enable cement companies to establish power plants and manage energy consumption in the factories.

As pursuant to its leading role in manufacturing technology, Siemens also provides mechanisation solutions to enable manufacturers to become more competitive by reducing the period of production delivery to the market, in order to achieve quicker production operations, the official clarified.

Egypt is one of the major cement producing and consuming countries in the Middle East and Africa since its production in 2015 was estimated at 70 million tonnes .

On other side, energy cost represents around 30 percent of total cement production costs in Egypt. Accordingly, power generation and distribution systems face obstacles dues to the growing consumption rates.
