South Sudan government proposes bill to extend president’s term for 3 more years

South Sudan’s government is proposing a bill that would extend President Salva Kiir’s term for three further years, a move condemned by opposition forces who say it violates the spirit of an ongoing peace process.

The bill aims to amend the constitution to extend Kiir’s tenure to 2021, lawmakers told Reuters on Tuesday.
