A gasoline truck crashed into a mini-bus on a bridge and then exploded late on Monday, killing 15 people in the city of Kafr El-Zayat, Gharbia governorate.
Mohamed Sharshar, deputy minister of health in Gharbia governorate, said the 15 killed in the accident were sent to morgues at the city’s Ibyar and general hospitals.
Five persons injured in the crash were sent to different hospitals for treatment.
Traffic accidents are common in Egypt due to badly maintained roads and poorly enforced traffic laws. In a 2012 report by the World Health Organization (WHO), about 12,000 people die every year in traffic-related accidents in Egypt.
