Turkish Energy & Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said that the production met 7-9 percent of total crude oil consumption, and 2 percent of natural gas consumption.
Turkish Energy & Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said that 16.4 million barrels of crude oil had been produced in Turkey in 2011.
Also, 793.5 million barrels of natural gas had been produced last year, added Yildiz, replying a parliamentary question.
Yildiz said that the production met 7-9 percent of total crude oil consumption, and 2 percent of natural gas consumption.
Recalling that oil and natural gas exploration had been made for 58 years in Turkey under Oil Law adopted in 1954, Yildiz said that 4,103 drilling and production wells had been opened between 1954 and 2011.
