$1bn allocated for water, sanitation stations in FY2020 – Egypt’s minister
The total investments allocated to execute a number of drinking water and sanitation stations within the financial year 2019/2020 are estimated at 18 billion Egyptian pounds ($1 billion ), Planning Minister Hala al-Saeed said on Friday.
Al-Saaed’s remarks came after a delegation from the ministry and the National Investment Bank made a two-day tour of the three Suez Canal governorates of Suez, Port Said and Ismailia to inspect drinking water and sanitation projects, the ministry said in a statement Friday.
The investments include about 4.6 billion pounds for drinking water stations with the aim of providing full access to potable water, Saeed said, adding that a sum of 13.4 billion pounds will be allocated to sanitation projects.
The tour comes within the framework of the planning ministry’s keenness to follow up projects of a social and environmental dimension, in addition to those having a direct effect on the people’s health.
The statement noted that those endeavors are among the main targets of Egypt’s Vision 2030.
