Saudi Arabia has awarded contracts to two Chinese companies to build 4,867 houses in various areas of the Gulf Kingdom, according to Zawya.
The Saudi Housing Ministry on Tuesday signed agreements with China’s state-owned Sinohydro Corp and China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) to build the new units within an ongoing programme in the world’s largest oil exporter to bridge a gap in housing supply.
Under the agreement, Sinohydro will construct 3,753 houses in Jazan, Asir, Baha in the South, as well as in the Western city of Makkah, the official Saudi press agency (SPA) said.
CMEC Saudi will construct 1,114 units in the Northwestern town of Jouf and the Northern border areas, SPA added.
