255 deaths due to Afghanistan earthquake
An earthquake hits eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday, killing around 255 people, according to Associated Press (AP).
Rescuers were arriving by helicopter, according to the state-run Bakhtar news agency report.
90 houses have been wrecked in Paktika and tenth of people are believed trapped under the rubble, tweeted the news agency’s director-general, Abdul Wahid Rayan.
Neighboring Pakistan Meteorological Department said that the earthquake is 6.1 as a magnitude. Quake were felt in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, and some places in the eastern Punjab province.
The earthquake was felt over 500 kilometres (310 miles) by 119 million people around Afghanistan, Pakistan and India, according to The European seismological agency, EMSC.
