Egypt’s vital waterway Suez Canal witnessed on Wednesday the crossing of 38 ships at weight of 2.163 million tons.
16 ships have passed through the Suez Canal coming from the North at weight of 838 thousand tons. Malik Al Ashtar
The biggest ship coming from the north was Malta’s container ship Malik Al Ashtar at weight of 146 thousand tons.
Meanwhile, the number of ships passing through the Suez Canal coming from the south hit 22 at weight of 1.325 million. The biggest ship coming from the south was Panama’s container ship Saiq at weight of 160 thousand tons.
The canal is one of Egypt’s main sources of foreign revenue. Revenues hit $438.1m in May after 1,431 vessels crossed the waterway carrying a combined cargo of 79.7 million tons.
