Egyptian expatriates started voting, on Sunday, in run-off elections which is between Dr Mohamed Morsi, candidate of FJP, the political arm of Muslim Brotherhood, and Ahmed Shafiq, the former prime minister. Voting in the run-off will last till June 9. Number of eligible voters reach 587 thousands, 0.07% of the total expatriates in Arab and European countries, pursuant to presidential elections website, launched by the higher presidential election commission.
The website refers that Saudi Arabia came first in voting with rate 45%; 262 thousand citizens.
The website set a number of conditions for voting, the voter should be 18 years and had an ID before the calls for presidential elections.
Maj. Gen. Abou Bakar Al Gendy, president of CAPMAS (Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics), has stated before that Egyptian expatriates reached 8 million, an estimated number of the ministry of foreign affairs.
He mentioned that the number of Egyptians officially registered in the embassies, according to the registered data in December 2010; referring that he is waiting for data of December 2011.
