7.5bn Egyptian pounds allocated to 9 ministries, authorities in August – FinMin
7.5 billion Egyptian pounds ($476.2 million) were allocated to nine ministries and authorities in Egypt last August, to assist in fulfilling citizens’ needs, said its Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait on Wednesday.
The allocations included 4 billion pounds provided to the General Authority for Supply and Commodities, 300 million pounds provided to the Ministry of Manpower, 266 million pounds provided to the General Authority for Roads, Bridges, and Land Transport, and 98.5 million pounds provided to the Holding Co. for Textiles, Maait added.
The allocation also included 149.million pounds provided to the Passengers Transportation Authority, 60 million pounds provided to the Holding Co. for Water and Waste Water, 294.8 million pounds provided to the Egyptian Authority for Unified Purchasing and Medical Supply, 59.3 million pounds provided to medical insurance for school students, 22.1 million pounds provided to insurance on female heads of households, 903.8 million pounds provided for children milk subsidies, and 220 million pounds for the National Authority for Media and 100 million pounds for the National Press Authority.
The government is eager to provide the cash liquidity needed for commodity and service authorities, thus contributing to enhancing their capabilities to meet citizens’ needs, especially priority care groups amid the Covid-19 crisis.
