Egypt’s Sisi unveils launch of ‘Ask The President’ online service

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced on Sunday the launch of a new online service for the public to submit questions to the president, saying that this is part of an effort to improve communication with citizens.

“As part of the constant quest for communication, [the door] has been opened to receive questions via askthepresident.net from 13 to 15 May,” Sisi said on his official Facebook page.

“From the very beginning, we have taken dialogue as a path to face challenges,” the president said in the brief statement.

The ‘Ask the President’ service is hosted on the portal of the World Youth Forum (WYF), the first edition of which Egypt launched in November 2017.

A number of ‘Ask the President’ sessions were held during WYF last year and another conference earlier this year.

The newly launched page offers users the opportunity to submit questions on politics, the economy, as well as social and security issues. The page requires that users submit their age category, average monthly salary, job and marital status.

Users are also asked to answer polls about their favourite type of media; choosing between radio, TV, newspapers, social networking websites and online news websites.
