96 giant Egyptian companies will participate in Anuga, the World’s leading food fair for the retail trade and the food service and catering market, taking place on 5-9 October 2019 in Berlin, Egypt’s food industries export council’s head said.
Hany Berzy said that the Egyptian participation in Anuga is being prepared in cooperation with Export Development Authority and the Egyptian Commercial Service Office.
The fair will see the participation of 84 Egyptian food industries companies and 12 agriculture companies, Berzy added.
Anuga is the world’s leading food fair for the retail trade and the food service and catering market, which takes place every two years in Cologne and considered one of the most important windows to enter into the European markets.
The volume of Egyptian food industries exports to the EU in 2018 amounted to $361 million representing 13 percent of the total food exports for the same year. While, the Egyptian food exports to Europe achieved a growth rate of 9 percent in 2018 compared to 2017.
He added that Germany was the largest European country importing Egyptian food in 2018 with exports of $70 million, achieving a growth rate of 20 percent compared to 2017. Germany imports accounted for 19 percent of the total exports to the European Union countries, and Germany is ranked first Top 10 Importers of Egyptian Food in 2018.
