Alexandria museums celebrate heritage week

Alexandria museums are celebrating the 13th edition of the Alexandrian Heritage Week starting Sunday to Saturday.

The event witnesses the awaited reopening of the Greco-Roman Museum in the Week’s opening ceremonies.

There was also a concert by the Royal Quartet and a theatrical play by students from colleges of Saint Mark and Saint Jean.

Also taking place during the week is an exhibition of artifacts depicted in drawings.

The exhibition was titled ‘Alexandria Ad Aegyptum’, and featured the work of Alexandrian 20th-century artist Mahmoud Said.

The Alexandria National Museum also unveiled ‘Basili Palace, 110 Freedom Road’, a show focusing on the titular residence through paintings.

It also focused on documents and photographs from its owner Assaad Basili Pasha, a wealthy merchant and builder of the museum in 1928.
