Egypt’s Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif has met with the coordinator in the Technical Support for the Comprehensive Technical Education Initiative with Egypt” (TCTI), a GIZ affiliate Andreas Adrian to discuss expanding cooperation in the field of technical education and vocational training.
GIZ is an acronym for Germany’s main development agency Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit.
The meeting covered efforts to boost employment and ease the transition into the labour market through the EPP Project, as well as the Centres of Competence (CoCs) model, which aims to establish sustainable public-private partnerships in technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
The initiative seeks to align education with labour market needs and includes strong involvement from the industrial sector.
Talks also addressed supporting Egypt’s digital transformation in technical education, green economy development, and the application of quality management systems across technical education institutions in line with international standards.
GIZ’s expertise is also being leveraged to strengthen accreditation systems through the Egyptian Authority for Assurance Technical Education Quality and Accreditation (Etqan).
Both sides agreed to continue joint coordination and to broaden partnerships with the private sector to ensure the quality and sustainability of Egypt’s technical education system.
