Schools To Be Equipped With Latest Technology
Minister of Education Prince Faisal bin Abdullah has highlighted the ministry’s ambition to provide schools with the latest technology. The minister, while urging students to gain knowledge in science and technology, underscored the importance of mastering the Arabic language, which is the language of the Qur’an, and to learn their great religion and its teachings to protect them and maintain their religious entity and national loyalty as well as to enable them to excel in science.
To ensure the ministry’s readiness for the school year 2012-2013, the minister organized an e-conference meeting this week with heads of various departments at the Education Ministry across the Kingdom.
Seven hundred participants had been linked over 110 remote locations from their workplaces to take part in the meeting. Addressing the meeting, Prince Faisal said it was their duty to invest in new technologies to get the best results.
He pointed out that the technology enabling an effective discussion between officials from their respective places without the need to move away from the headquarters of work and travel allowed them more time to work and to participate in a greater number of meetings. He said the ministry had launched a number of regulations and technical projects designed to support the educational process, including the Faris system, which aims to manage administrative and financial systems, and the Noor educational management system.
In his opening speech, the minister said: “Begin with God’s blessing this school year on Saturday. All public schools and teachers are now completing what you have started and are getting ready to receive students on Saturday.” He expressed his pleasure over the first report prepared for the academic year and the other reports followed. He said that such indicators and positive results showed the reality on the ground.
The minister admitted that his ministry faced many challenges, but it was working hard to overcome these successfully by implementing educational plans and the use of teaching methods and modern training of teachers in addition to improving the curriculum and the educational environment. The ministry would constantly follow and monitor the performance of all educational institutes, he said, and added that the biggest challenges the ministry sought to overcome successfully were educational and academic achievement. Talking on school buildings, the minister said that the end of the use of leased premises and completion of the transition to government buildings across the Kingdom would make him very happy.
The ministry, he said, was working to receive 350 new buildings before the end of this Hijri year.
Prince Faisal emphasized the importance of the safety of all students through the safety of school buildings. He said the departments of education and the relevant authorities were directly responsible for this.
He urged the education managements to inspect the school grounds and to redouble efforts to ensure both safety and amenities, adding that he would not accept any shortage in books or lack of desks.
