Abu Dhabi’s non-oil foreign trade up in ’24

Abu Dhabi’s non-oil foreign trade rose by 9 per cent in 2024 to AED306 billion, up from AED281.9 billion in 2023, driven by strong growth in exports and re-exports, according to figures released by Abu Dhabi Customs.

Non-oil exports jumped 16 per cent year-on-year to AED107.8 billion, while re-exports increased by 11 per cent to AED58 billion. Imports also grew by 3 per cent, reaching AED140.2 billion.

The growth reflects the emirate’s expanding global trade ties and supportive business environment. Customs declarations increased by 3 per cent, with digital platform transactions up 17 per cent and proactive, automated processes growing 31 per cent.

The Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi noted the collaboration with Abu Dhabi Customs enables more accurate trade data analysis, supporting evidence-based policymaking. The centre reported a 6.2 per cent expansion in the emirate’s non-oil economy in 2024, underlining its resilience and sustainable growth path.
