ADB unveils 5-yr strategy to aid Uzbekistan’s green shift

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has introduced a new country partnership strategy for Uzbekistan covering 2024–2028, aimed at supporting the nation’s transition to a green and inclusive economy.

This five-year strategy will align with Uzbekistan’s “Uzbekistan-2030” plan, focusing on reforms in energy, public sector management, finance, and education.

ADB Director General for Central and West Asia, Eugene Zhukov, highlighted the bank’s commitment to Uzbekistan’s green economy goals and poverty reduction.

The strategy includes strengthening private sector engagement, improving financial markets, and enhancing human capital development.

ADB will also bolster private sector involvement through direct financing, public-private partnerships, and support for macroeconomic reforms.

The bank’s total support to Uzbekistan since joining in 1995 now stands at $12.5 billion.
