Afghan interim government signs $289m power deals

The Afghan interim government has signed 10 contracts worth over $289 million for electricity generation and transmission, the office of the acting deputy prime minister for economic affairs announced on Thursday.

The agreements were made between Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, the country’s power company, and both domestic and international private firms. The signing ceremony took place in Kabul, according to the statement. These projects are expected to generate a combined total capacity of 228.45 megawatts.
