Afghanistan signs $145m cement plant deal

The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum in Afghanistan’s caretaker government has recently finalised a contract valued approximately $145 million for the establishment of a cement plant in the eastern province of Logar.

At the signing ceremony, the acting minister of mines and petroleum announced that the plant, with a 30-year contract, would produce 2,500 tons of cement daily and create job opportunities for hundreds of local residents.

The ministry recently signed four major contracts totalling nearly 623 million dollars with domestic and international companies in order to achieve self-sufficiency in cement production.
