The Egyptian cabinet approved on Wednesday a proposal from France’s Alstom to build an industrial complex in Alexandria’s Borg El Arab city.
The proposal includes building two factories for Alstom: one for the production of railway electric systems and components, and the second for producing mobile units for metro lines, trams, LRT, and monorail.
The production from these factories will be exported to various countries and the first batch of products from the first factory will be used for Egypt’s Line 6 of the Cairo Metro.
The factories will be built on an area of 31 acres, which can be expanded in the future by 9 acres to be 40 acres, also will provide 1,200 job opportunities for engineers and technicians.
