AmCham Egypt strikes partnership to spotlight nation’s startup talent

The American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham Egypt) has signed a strategic partnership with the Egypt’s Entrepreneur Awards (EEA) platform to promote the country’s fast-expanding startup sector, the nation’s investment authority said Thursday.

The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) said the agreement will spotlight top entrepreneurs, connect them with established businesses, and strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional hub for innovation.

AmCham CEO Sylvia Menassa and EAA CEO Amr Mansi signed the memorandum of understanding in Cairo. The signing was witnessed by GAFI Chairman Hossam Heiba, AmCham board member and Procter & Gamble’s Vice President Kareem Yassin, vice president Egypt, and other senior business leaders.

Through the partnership, AmCham’s committees will work with EAA winners to provide mentorship and market access, fostering growth opportunities for startups in key sectors.

The move comes as Egypt sees a surge in entrepreneurial activity, with startups gaining traction in fintech, e-commerce, and clean technology. Boosting innovation is central to Egypt’s Vision 2030 strategy, aimed at diversifying the economy and attracting foreign investment.
