Abu Qir Fertilizers Company (AFC), one of Egypt’s largest fertiliser firms, said on Tuesday it had awarded a contract to the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) to install solar power stations. The project, valued at approximately 88.32 million Egyptian pounds, aims to reduce the company’s reliance on grid electricity and internal generators.
According to a bourse filling on Tuesday, the 2.5-megawatt peak (MWp) solar power stations are expected to be operational within a year or a less. This initiative aligns with Egypt’s broader push towards renewable energy and sustainable practices. By harnessing solar power, AFC seems to reduce its carbon footprint and lower operational costs.
