Apple and Google team up to help track spread of coronavirus via iPhone and Android apps
Apple and Google announced on Friday a partnership on Friday in which the two companies will work together to provide tools that will help track the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
Apple said in a statement that both companies would launch developer tools (called APIs) in May that will “enable interoperability between Android and iOS devices using apps from public health authorities.”
The apps will launch on both the iTunes App Store and the Google Play Store, Apple added.
“Second, in the coming months, Apple and Google will work to enable a broader Bluetooth-based contact tracing platform by building this functionality into the underlying platforms,”
