Arab Contractors signs new protocol to construct Chad-Libya-Egypt Road

Egypt’s Arab Contractors Company signed a protocol to study and construct a strategic road linking Chad, Libya, and Egypt, according to a Cabinet statement on Wednesday.
The protocol includes detailed technical studies, paving the way for the project’s execution. It follows a prior agreement signed in September between Arab Contractors and the Libya Reconstruction and Development Fund for the Libyan section of the road, ensuring comprehensive coverage across Chad and Libya. Moreover, the initiative is part of a broader regional effort to enhance cross-border infrastructure, promote trade, and deepen ties between African nations.
The Chad-Libya-Egypt road is seen as a vital infrastructure project that will facilitate the movement of goods and people across the Sahel region, boosting trade and regional integration.
Sherif El-Sherbiny, Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, emphasised the importance of this project for regional cooperation, stating that it would not only improve connectivity between Chad and Egypt via Libya but also strengthen cross-border trade.
