Jordan’s national exports to countries in the Arab Free Trade Zone reached JD 1.943 billion by the end of July 2024, marking a 12.4 per cent increase compared to JD 1.729 billion during the same period in 2023. This surge was primarily driven by exports to Saudi Arabia, which totaled JD 632 million.
The report also revealed that exports to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) bloc rose by 13.9 per cent, reaching JD 1.340 billion by the end of July, largely due to an increase in Jordanian exports to the United States, which accounted for JD 1.293 billion.
In contrast, Jordan’s exports to the European Union (EU) experienced modest growth of 1.2 per cent, totaling JD 250 million. The rise was attributed to higher exports to the Netherlands, which reached JD 52 million.
However, exports to non-Arab Asian countries saw a significant decline of 25.8 per cent, dropping to JD 933 million, mainly due to a sharp fall in exports to India, which amounted to JD 510 million. Additionally, exports to other economic blocs decreased by 18.7 per cent, totaling JD 391 million by the end of July.
The mixed performance of Jordan’s exports highlights strong growth in Arab and North American markets, offset by challenges in Asian markets.
