Aramco and China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. (CNBM) have announced a strategic five-year Cooperation Framework Agreement (CFA) to explore advanced materials and industrial development opportunities.
The partnership will focus on establishing manufacturing facilities in Saudi Arabia for wind turbine blades, hydrogen storage tanks, and lower-carbon building materials, as well as energy storage solutions. Plans also include the creation of a joint technology centre to foster innovation in materials science.
Aramco Executive Vice President Wail Al Jaafari highlighted the collaboration’s potential to reduce construction emissions and advance product performance. CNBM Chairman Zhou Yuxian emphasised the alignment with low-carbon transition goals and the broader strategic cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia.
The CFA builds on their previous collaboration, including the launch of the Nonmetallic Excellence and Innovation Center for Building Materials (NEXCEL) in Beijing in 2021.
