Armenia, Azerbaijan to sign US-brokered peace deal granting US exclusive corridor rights

Armenia and Azerbaijan are set to sign a US-brokered peace framework at the White House on Friday, granting the United States exclusive development rights to a strategic transit corridor through Armenia, officials told Reuters on Thursday.

The deal, facilitated by US President Donald Trump, includes the establishment of the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP), linking Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan enclave via Armenian territory. Operated under Armenian law, the corridor will be subleased by the US to a consortium for development and management.

The agreement, to be signed by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, aims to resolve decades of conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and ease long-standing tensions in the South Caucasus, a vital energy corridor bordering Russia, Turkey, Iran, and Europe. As part of the deal, both countries will also request the dissolution of the Minsk Group, co-chaired by France, Russia, and the United States since 1992.

US officials see the agreement as a potential gateway for Azerbaijan to join the Abraham Accords and part of Trump’s broader push to position himself as a global mediator in his second term.
