Egyptian-American Gang Arrested for Counterfeiting Credit Cards

El Basatin Police Station is conducting extensive investigations with the leader of a gang accused of counterfeiting electronic payment cards. The gang has managed to buy the secret numbers of cards owned by American people from Hackers in the US. They used these numbers to steal more than 170 credit cards which they used to burchase things at a cost of more than one million EGP from  the best electrical equipments stores.

 One member of the gang named “H.M.F” has been arrested and admitted the crime. A number of  computers and laptops have been detected, in addition to electronic pages containing the stolen secret numbers. Moreover, the accused person  has informed the police about the place of residence of his two partners in crime and the detectives are carrying out investigation procedures to arrest them as requested by the the public prosecution.

Dr. Ramadan Mahgoub, the General Manager of the department of fraud and forgery research at the Forensic Medicine Institute and the one responsible for investigating the cards and the devices found at the possession of the gang members, stated that the gang has bought the secret numbers of some American credit cards from hackers in the US . Then, they bought plastic cards which are normally sold in the market, since they are  used by employees at administrative authorities and investment companies as identification cards and copied the secret numbers by a copier to these cards.

The prosecution remanded the accused person in custody with charge of forgery and robbing the customers of their money.
