Asian stocks rose slightly on Wednesday following Wall Street’s gains, but investors were cautious ahead of key US inflation data due to the Federal Reserve’s hawkish stance in December.
On Wednesday, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index rose 0.3 per cent, and TOPIX saw a 0.6 per cent gain. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 remained relatively stable.
Market participants are looking forward to the release of December employment data on Thursday.
The Shanghai Shenzhen CSI 300 index dipped by 0.2 per cent in China, and the Shanghai Composite index remained mostly unchanged. Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index slightly rose by 0.1 per cent.
