Assem El-Gazzar appointed Egypt’s Housing Minister
Newly appointed Minister of Housing and Urban Utilties Asem El-Gazzar on Wednesday was sworn-in before Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to assume office, presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Utilities portfolio was previously maintained by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, who served this role since 2014.
In June 2018, Madbouly was appointed as Prime Minister.
El-Gazzar has served as Deputy Housing Minister since January 2018. He graduated from the Faculty of Urban Planning at Cairo University and chaired the General Authority for Urban Planning.
