AstraZeneca caps inhaler costs at $35 per month

AstraZeneca announced on Monday that it will limit out-of-pocket costs for its inhaled respiratory products for chronic lung disease and asthma to $35 per month in the United States, starting in June.

Expanding savings programmes will make AstraZeneca’s inhalers more affordable for vulnerable patients with asthma and COPD, especially those who are uninsured or underinsured.

CEO Pascal Soriot said: “We remain dedicated to addressing the need for affordability of our medicines, but the system is complex and we cannot do it alone.”

Soriot further added that Congress must convene key stakeholders to reform the healthcare system and ensure patients can afford necessary medications now and, in the future.
