Bahrain to rebuild 23 dilapidated homes

23 dilapidated homes in Bahrain will be rebuilt at a cost of BD200,000 under a new initiative, Gulf Daily News reported on Tuesday.

The initiative is spearheaded by Parliament’s financial and economic affairs committee chairman Ahmed Al Saloom in constituency five, which covers Bilad Al Qadeem, Segaiya, Zinj, and Salmaniya, with four homes built as part of the first batch.

The list of homes have been compiled by the Capital Trustees Board, which will oversee the initiative alongside a special committee from residents.

“The payments will come from arranged donations and the most dangerous four homes have been selected for demolition and rebuilding, besides providing accommodation arrangements,” said Al Salloom, who is area MP, yesterday. “I have decided to launch this initiative as part of my contribution towards the community I serve and live in, its protection and the well-being of people who are facing death within the confines of their own walls.”

The initiative was launched during a meeting held remotely yesterday which was headed by Al Salloom, who also announced that 10,000 face masks and Ramadan baskets were distributed among constituency residents, both Bahrainis and expats.
