Remittances from Bangladeshis living and working abroad rose 8.90 per cent year-on-year in August to $2.42 billion, central bank data showed on Tuesday.
Remittances, a key source of foreign exchange for the South Asian nation, recorded nearly $2.5 billion in July.
The majority of remittances came from Middle Eastern countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.
Between July and August of the current fiscal year, Bangladesh received $4.9 billion in remittances, up 18.4 percent from $4.13 billion in the same period last year.
Bangladesh remittances reported an all-time high of over $30 billion in the fiscal year 2024-2025.
