Egypt’s state-run lender Banque du Caire‘s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) portfolio rose to 10.3 billion Egyptian pounds ($621,970 million) during first half of 2019, according to Banking sources.
The SMEs portfolio has increased up from 9 billion Egyptian pounds by the end of 2018.
The sources told Amwal Al Ghad that the SMEs finances divided into 5.8 billion pounds for micro projects and 4.5 billion pounds for small and medium enterprises by the end of June 2019.
On the other hand, SMEs and micro enterprises portfolio captured 16 percent of the bank’s total credit portfolio.
BDC aims at increasing the SMEs portfolio value to 20 percent which is stipulated by the Central Bank of Egypt.
However, the total corporate loans portfolio amounted to 49.7 billion pounds by the end of June compared to 47.6 billion pounds by the end of March.
