Banque Misr Paid 18,000 Remittances In Four Days

EGP 70.5 million were the total disbursement by Banque Misr in the last four days, which is the value of about 18800 yellow remittances, money owed by Iraq to Egyptian workers who fled the country during the first Gulf War in the 1990s, sources at the Bank said.

The total volume of the yellow remittances being paid by Banque Misr is 100 thousand remittances, sources told Amwal Al Ghad, but refused to say the exact value of remittances.

Sources said Banque Misr assigned about 120 branches to pay these remittances since last Sunday and decided to work on Saturday so as to decrease the pressure on its branches, noting that the bank assigned the period from 4 pm to 7 pm to disburse the value of remittances.

National Bank of Egypt, Arab African International Bank, Banque Misr and AlexBank are participating in paying these remittances in value to US$ 408.38 million due to 670 thousand Egyptians.

Ministry of Manpower & Immigration announced that the required documents for disbursement are the original remittances or the passport in which it is documented the value of remittances.
