Beijing to build 20 5G factories by ’27

Beijing plans to accelerate the integration of 5G and industrial internet by establishing at least 20 5G factories by 2027.

The Beijing 5G+ Industrial Internet Innovation Development Implementation Plan aims to create a minimum of 50 dedicated 5G industry networks and nurture 50 suppliers of industry-specific application solutions.

The plan prioritises optimising 5G coverage in key manufacturing zones and enterprise clusters through private industrial networks and 5G-Advanced (5G-A) deployments.

Leading companies in electronics, automobiles, equipment manufacturing, and biopharmaceuticals are expected to spearhead 5G factory construction.

Authorities said Beijing will also promote innovation by testing 5G applications in industrial manufacturing, connected vehicles, and healthcare, while advancing research and early deployment of 6G in industrial use cases.
