Berlin raises alarm over US tariff impact on export

German exports and industrial production face mounting pressure from US President Donald Trump’s tariff policies, German economy ministry warned on Monday in a monthly report cited by Reuters.

“Due to the US tariff policy, uncertainty about the development of German export trade is currently exceptionally high,” the ministry said in its April report, noting no recovery in demand was expected amid rising global protectionism.

Regarding industrial output, the report predicted “a renewed, noticeable weakening” in the coming months, citing tariff-related strain on top of falling order volumes.
