Biden, meets with Sisi, calls Egypt’s hosting of COP27 ‘appropriate’

Soon after landing in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh, U.S. President Joe Biden met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and called Egypt’s hosting of the COP27 climate summit “appropriate.”

Biden has also praised Egypt for speaking up strongly on the war in Ukraine and said Cairo had been a key mediator in Gaza.

“In the face of Russia’s war in Ukraine, Egypt has spoken up strongly in the United Nations and that is appreciated very much as well,” the U.S. president said.
